Jennifer Self, D.V.M.

Jennifer Self, D.V.M.

Dr. Self is the proud owner of Lake Forest Animal Clinic. She graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 2001. Dr. Self’s special interests include internal medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Self is a member of AVMA and SCVMA. She has worked as a veterinarian for various animal rescue groups as well as working at the O.C. Animal Shelter. Her husband is a sixth grade school teacher and they have two young daughters. They keep busy taking care of their Pit Bull-Lab mix Stella and their two cats Ziggy and B.K. Dr. Self enjoys the exciting field of veterinary medicine and truly loves her job.

Jason Trope, D.V.M.

Jason Trope, D.V.M.

Dr. Trope received his bachelor degree in biology (biochemistry) from Purdue University in 1995 and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University in 1999. Dr. Trope’s special interests are surgery, specifically intestinal and bladder surgery.  In his free time he sails and scuba dives.

Helen Smith, D.V.M.

Helen Smith, D.V.M.

Dr. Smith recently moved to the area from the East Coast. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science & her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia. She practiced veterinary medicine in South Carolina for 8 years before moving to California. Her husband is a neuropharmacologist. They have two dogs they love – Hannah, a Border Collie/Heeler mix, and Impi, a Pug/Boston mix. Dr. Smith enjoys internal medicine & preventative care. She thrives in getting to know both her clients & patients to deliver a high standard of care that fits the lifestyle of each patient. In her spare time she loves going to the beach, hiking & discovering her new home. Dr. Smith looks forward to meeting your furry companion!

Meet Our Amazing Team!

Teresa Mishodek – Office Manager and Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Teresa has been in the veterinary field for over 30 years!  She has been at Lake Forest Animal Clinic since we opened, and is the hospital manager. Her goals are to provide the best care for all animals and to provide a safe environment for them to come to. Teresa has an African Grey Parrot named Nala, who is 17 years old. Teresa enjoys hiking, working out at the gym, singing in a gospel group, and visiting and spending time with the sick at Hoag Hospital.

Alma – Groomer (Canine and Feline Stylist)

Alma groomed her first dog when she was just 12 years old, and after that, she was hooked.  She found a school that was taught by an award-winning groomer, Marcia Hill and learned the proper way to groom both dogs and cats. She spent 15 years competing in grooming competitions and acquired over 20 awards.  Alma has been grooming for 35 years, loves her profession and takes pride in what she does. She loves the challenge of taking a dog or cat that has been turned away from another groomer, has been abused, or is just a young animal that has never been groomed, and transforming them inside and out by building that relationship of trust. She feels every pet is unique and tries to learn and listen to the individual needs of each pet.  Alma has two dogs, a Chocolate Lab and a Jack Russell Terrier, and two unique cats, a Bambino, and a Sphynx.  Alma has four adorable grandbabies and enjoys spending as much time a s possible with them. She also enjoys traveling, camping, and going to her river house with her husband. We are so thankful to have such an amazing groomer as part of our team, she really is the dog whisperer!

Christina – Veterinary Assistant

Since Christina was 8 years old, she knew she wanted to work with animals. As an adult she followed her dreams and took a Regional Occupation Program Course in Animal Health Care and did an internship with us. Christina is a proud mother to 3 handsome boys, and 2 dogs.

Kim - Veterinary Receptionist
Kim has been in the veterinary field for 33 years. She has been at LFAC for 10 years. Kim has the ability to make anyone laugh and can put a huge smile on anyone’s face. Her nurturing nature was made to take care of pets and people. Kim’s goal is to learn something new every day. Kim has one Shih Tzu named Nya and enjoys camping, wine tasting, music, and sports. Kim loves all animals. She grew up on a farm in Columbus, Ohio. She’s owned cats, dogs, chickens, and cows.
Gina E. - Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Gina grew up in Orange County and has worked in the veterinary field for the past 26 years.  In 2004, she became a licensed veterinary technician and spent the following 13 years at a veterinary specialty practice in Palm Desert, California. She recently returned to Orange County and general veterinary practice. Gina has received extensive training in small animal anesthesia, pain management and medical oncology and has lectured to her fellow technicians on several occasions. She enjoys learning and is constantly expanding her knowledge of veterinary medicine. When not working, Gina reads and spends time with her husband, four children, three cats and a dog.

Lindsey - Veterinary Receptionist
Lindsey joined our LFAC reception family in 2019. She was born in California and grew up in Chicago. Lindsey attended the University of Nebraska and got her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Wildlife and Animal Science. She has two French Bulldogs named Kona and Pepper. She also has a Pitty sister named Stella. Lindsey loves all animals especially dogs and marine mammals. In her free time, you can catch Lindsey at the beach and at Disneyland.
Sean - Veterinary Assistant
Sean has always loved animals. When he was two years old his dream job was to be a zookeeper. Sean has been working at LFAC since spring of 2019. Sean adopted two kittens from our clinic! Their names are Patch and Oreo. Sean says they are the sweetest little troublemakers you will ever meet. When Sean isn’t working, he enjoys drawing, playing video games, and taking animation classes at Saddleback College.
Hayley B. - Veterinary Technician - RVT
Hayley recently joined our LFAC team in 2019. Haley was born in Redding, California and moved to Southern California in her middle school years. She has always loved animals and originally wanted to be a marine biologist. Hayley received her RVT license in 2015. Hayley loves all aspects of the hospital setting, including the clients and patients. She currently lives with her boyfriend and two cats in Huntington Beach.
Amy - Office Manager

Amy recently joined Lake Forest Animal Clinic in July 2018.  She is currently working as a manager and enjoys working hands-on with our patients.  Amy has a strong interest in client education and takes pride in providing our clients with quality service and a personal touch.  With over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field, she is a great member of our team. Amy lives in Mission Viejo with her husband, son, two cats, Oreo and Tilly, their Bearded Dragon Rose and their dogs, K.C. and Emily and last but not least cranky Frank their cockatiel.

Karin – Pharmacy Technician

Karin has been in the veterinary field for over 15 years, and been with us since 2009. She owns a variety of animals: dogs, cats, bunnies, birds and even horses.  Karin and her daughter care for foster animals from “high-kill” shelters and adopt them into loving homes. They have saved 9 kittens and 2 dogs from euthanasia this last year alone.

Haley – Veterinary Assistant
Haley has been at LFAC since 2013. She has always had a love for animals, specifically dogs. At home her fur family consists of a Pitbull named Yogi, a German Shorthair Pointer named Rhett, and a Highland Lynx named Flynn Rider. Her goal is to take care of each animal like it’s her own and make sure that the clients are happy with the results and quality care. Haley is a Southern California native who loves spending her free time down at the beach with her 5-year-old daughter. Haley is also a yoga instructor and in her free time, she enjoys being outdoors doing activities like running trails, hiking, and even paddle boarding.
Allegra - Veterinary Assistant
Allegra was born in California and has grown up all around the Orange County area. Allegra owns a Husky name Pete Jones and a brand-new orange kitten named Cosmo. Both her pets mean everything to her. Allegra is currently in school reaching for a Biology degree. Her goal is to help save as many animals as she can. Allegra has been working and volunteering all throughout the valley.
Steven - Veterinary Assistant
Steven joined the LFAC family in 2018 after earning his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. Since he was a child, Steven has had a deep connection with animals and uses this to help care for our furry friends. When not in his scrubs, you can find him at the beach, working out in the gym, playing lacrosse, or fishing. In the near future he plans to fulfill his childhood dream and raise a puppy of his own.
Soraya - Veterinary Receptionist
Soraya has been with us at LFAC since 2018. Soraya moved to Orange County after living in Utah most her life. Soraya earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communication Studies from the University of Utah. Her dream job as a child was to be a dolphin trainer. Soraya currently has a Chihuahua Terrier mix named Bean, and Golden Retriever named Sunny. Her ultimate goal is to one day own her own Chihuahua sanctuary.
Jorrell - Veterinary Assistant
Hi my name is Jorrell. I am 33 and have loved animals my whole life. I have had several dogs over the years and hope to have more in the future. I have worked in the animal related field for over 15 years and will continue to do so as long as I am able. I have a younger brother and sister and parents who have been married 24 years. I am close with my family and enjoy spending time with them. In my free time I enjoy going to the range, as well as fishing and hanging out with friends.
Allyra - Veterinary Assistant

Michelle - Veterinary Assistant
Michelle has been at LFAC for several months now. She has once chihuahua named Luna. Michelle’s love for animals developed at a very young age. She has a passion for taking care of dogs and cats. When she’s not working, you can find her playing soccer with her siblings, going out with friends, and playing with her puppy.
Christie - Veterinary Receptionist
Christie has been with us at LFAC since March 2019. She currently has 3 Shih Tzu’s. They all have cute little ponytail’s! Christie has earned a Bachelor Degree in Marketing. She would love to be a Vet Tech in the future. She has three children. She is also a cheer and dance mom!
