We invite you to visit Lake Forest Animal Clinic with your pets and experience the difference that quality, compassionate care makes!
Wellness Care and Prevention: are the cornerstones of our vet services since we believe that prevention is the best cure! By maintaining your pet’s optimum health, we can help prevent health issues in the first place! We recommend initial puppy and kitten care visits, annual wellness physicals for our adult pets, and semi-annual exams for our senior pets. During these visits our vet will perform a full physical, administer diagnostic blood work and a fecal sample, and check to make sure that your pet is up to date on all vaccinations. Early detection of health conditions can minimize complications and our veterinarians can help your pet “age gracefully.” Our goal is to ensure the healthiest, happiest, and longest life possible for your pet.
Dental Care: Routine dental care is an essential part of pet wellness. Without proper cleanings, tartar and plaque can build up along the gum line leading to periodontal disease. The infected gums allow bacteria to enter the blood stream and adversely affect the internal organs including the liver, kidney, and heart. An annual dental cleaning will ensure that your pet's teeth and gums are healthy. Make an appointment to have you pet’s teeth evaluated so that the veterinarian can determine whether an anesthetic dental or a non-anesthetic dental is right for you pet. Click Dentistry
Senior Pet Care: As your pets age, you may notice that they move a little slower and may not hear or see as clearly as they once did. What you can't see is that your pet's internal organs, like the heart, liver and lungs, are also aging. Because many symptoms of age-related conditions may not be evident until the condition progresses, we recommend semi-annual exams for senior pets. Our veterinarian will administer basic tests including a blood chemistry panel, parasite evaluation, and a urinalysis to help us diagnose and effectively manage health conditions before they affect your pet's quality of life. We also recommend testing for hyperthyroidism in older cats. We love caring for senior pets and doing everything possible to keep them active well into their golden years!
Laboratory Diagnostic Services: Our vet clinic is equipped with state-of-the art lab facilities. We offer in-house comprehensive diagnostic screening tests which enable our veterinarians to diagnose health problems quickly and accurately when time is of the essence. We can also perform in-house heartworm testing, feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus testing, ear mite smears, skin scrapings, and urine specific gravity evaluations. We have access to IDEXX Laboratories which can run more than 1000 tests per our request and we can have the results within 24 hours. This allows us to treat your pet faster and restore your furry friend to wellness.
Radiology and Advanced Imaging: Your pet cannot tell you "where it hurts," making proper diagnostics a critical component of vet services. Our clinic uses the most advanced veterinary technology available to diagnose your pet's condition including digital radiographs, echocardiograms, and abdominal ultrasound. These services allow our veterinarians to accurately diagnose and treat health conditions, and precisely identify health problems prior to surgery.
General Surgery: Although our Lake Forest Animal Clinic focuses on prevention and wellness, there are times when your pet may need surgery. Fortunately, our medical staff is skilled in general surgery, allowing you and your pet to receive quality care when these procedures are needed. Our low cost spay and neuter program operates every Wednesday by appointment and offers high quality spay and neuter surgeries at affordable prices.
Orthopedics: Pets can fracture bones, pull ligaments and tendons and suffer joint pain just as frequently as humans. We perform orthopedic surgery, when necessary, and employ effective pain management methods to quickly return your pet to playful good health.
Hospitalization: For those times when your pet is seriously ill and needs to be hospitalized for intravenous fluids, IV injections, and medications, a medical team consisting of one of our veterinarians, a registered technician, and an assistant will work together to monitor your pet and ensure the best in treatment and care.
Emergencies: Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. We have veterinarians who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Emergencies can be things such a rat bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.
Urgent Care: We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life threatening, but when you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait or the cost in order to be seen.
Microchip Implantation: A pet microchip creates a forever bond between you and the pet you love. And together with the HomeAgain pet recovery system, your pet will have the best chance of coming back to you. Micro-chipping involves implanting a tiny chip the size of a grain of rice in between your pet's shoulder blades. It takes only a few minutes to do and does not require anesthesia. Visit the HomeAgain website for more details.
Grooming: We understand that proper grooming is more than a cosmetic issue. Keeping your pet groomed also promotes healthy skin, elimination of painful "tangles," and improves psychological well-being. Make an appointment with Alma, our award winning groomer, and help your pet look like a million bucks!
Boarding: If you are unable to take your pet with you when you travel, our boarding facilities are a safe and welcoming "home away from home" for your pet. We offer a safe and secure environment and your loyal companions will enjoy their time as our guests, as they get exercise, attention, and protection. For added peace of mind, please remember that your pet is under the watchful eye of our veterinarians in the event of an emergency.
When you want quality care for your pet, our clinic is the perfect choice. We look forward to seeing you and your pet very soon.
Let LFAC partner with you to give your pet the best gift possible…a long, healthy, and happy life.
